Three generations. My grandfather (pictured on the right) was the estate general manager for King Mohammed Zahir Shah in the 1960’s, the last king of Afghanistan. To this day, he always tells me stories of their personal relationship and the conversations they shared at the palace grounds as well as the King’s wedding gift to my grandparents on their wedding day. During his reign, King Zahir Shah recognized the need for modernizing the country through education and technology and thus the first modern university was founded. Afghanistan changed very rapidly after the 1960’s as the King was overthrown and into exile and my grandfather was forced to face death or flee to the United States in seek of refuge | #Afghanistan #UnitedStates #OurWorld #Refugee #Humanity #King #ZahirShah #Father #Grandfather #Generations #Family #Afghan #History #Life #PursuitofHappiness #Education #Technology #Progress #TheLastKing #Factionalism #Politics
